As I Lay My Hand (Blue Monochrome) is a reinterpretation of the French artist Yves Kleins (1928-1962) anthropometric performance works. In these, blue paint brushed on the actors' skin, after which they made an impression with their bodies on paper and other surfaces. Björn's work is an initiation rite, in which the participant is admitted into a community characterized by the blue color. While the rite is going on, simple choral music is heard. In Björn's version, the female actors have been replaced by men.
The mysterious work tells of the artist's interest in both group and individual experiences. He also shows in a concrete way how stage and visual art blends seamlessly into the field of contemporary art. We will see an example of how contemporary artists, also in a group formation, can have a natural dialogue with art history and at the same time illustrate their own artistic thinking.
Written in conjunction with the premiere of As I Lay My Hand (Blue Monochrome) November 7, 2019 at the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art in Vaasa. On November 29, 2019, the performance work will be shown a second time, then in Gallery Himmelblau in Tampere. Both events are free.

As I Lay My Hand (Blue Monochrome) är en nytolkning av den franske konstnären Yves Kleins (1928-1962) antropometriska performanceverk. I dessa penslades blå färg på aktörernas hud, varefter de gjorde avtryck med sina kroppar på papper och andra ytor. Björns verk är en initiationsrit, där deltagaren upptas i en gemenskap som präglas av den blå färgen. Medan riten pågår hörs enkel körmusik. I Björns version har de kvinnliga aktörerna bytts ut till män.
Det hemlighetsfulla verket berättar om konstnärens intresse för både grupp- och individuella upplevelser. Han visar också på ett konkret sätt hur scen- och bildkonst smidigt blandas på samtidskonstens fält. Vi får se ett prov på hur samtidskonstnärer, också i en grupperformance, kan föra en naturlig dialog med konsthistorien och samtidigt åskådliggöra sitt eget konstnärliga tänkande
Skrivet i samband med premiären av As I Lay My Hand (Blue Monochrome) den 7 november 2019 på Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art i Vaasa. Den 29 november 2019 kommer performancearbetet att visas en andra gång, sedan i Galleri Himmelblau i Tammerfors. Båda evenemangen är gratis.
